My first position in higher ed was at a major university in New York City, with two undergraduate schools (uptown for men and downtown for women), six graduate schools and special programs in the U.S. and abroad. For the next four years, I produced a variety of print, web, radio and video, in addition to buying all of the media on behalf of the university. I learned everything about the world of higher education: the admissions cycles, enrollment funnel, open houses, and the importance of letting students express the unique qualities of the university in their own words. Our campaigns consistently resulted in increased attendance at each Open House by at least 20%.
