Summer Intern Portrait
Photo shoot Management
In the university lab
I was asked to photograph an undergraduate who had scored a summer internship with a prominent scientist at an Ivy League university. (Why do the biggest universities have the smallest labs?) We were allowed one hour (and not a second more)! Once there, we quickly determined that positioning our student with the window behind her made the tiny lab look a bit roomier. The photographer set up his lights in record time as I reorganized all of the objects on the shelves and the counter (and put everything back when we left) and kept our slightly nervous student calm. No detail is unimportant: we purposefully matched our student’s gloves to the school’s brand color. This photo was so beautiful it was chosen as the cover of the university’s view book. All done in 58 minutes.
